Geotechnical design of foundations, retaining structures and ground stabilisation

Foundation and retaining solutions sized on the actual ground parameters, to SR EN 1997 and the Romanian national standards, with the correct consequence class required by Law no. 169/2026.

What we design

The geotechnical works we design

Shallow foundations

Pad and strip footings and rafts, verified for bearing resistance and settlement, not only by the conventional design pressure.

NP 112-2014SR EN 1997-1:2004

Deep foundations

Piles, barrettes and piled rafts, with soil-structure interaction analysis.

NP 123-2022SR EN 1997-1:2004

Deep excavations and support

Diaphragm walls, secant piles, sheet piles and anchors, with assessment of the effects on neighbouring buildings.

NP 120-2014NP 124-2010SR EN 1997-1:2004

Slope stabilisation

Stability analyses and solutions for cut slopes and landslides: drainage, retaining walls, anchored structures.

SR EN 1997-1:2004

Ground improvement

Columns, grouting, binder stabilisation and other techniques for weak or collapsible soils.

RTC 16-2026SR EN 1997-1:2004

Numerical modelling

Numerical simulations that predict how the ground behaves

We use them in our own designs and offer them separately to designers and clients who need an independent analysis.

  • Complex finite element analyses
  • Soil-structure interaction modelling
  • Numerical and analytical models developed in-house
  • Audits of other designers' calculation reports and numerical models

Legal framework

The geotechnical design under Law no. 169/2026

Consequence class Placing the building in consequence class CC1–CC4 is the designer's obligation (art. 370) and sets the check level of the design.
Design stages The building-permit design (PAC), the technical design (PTh) and the execution details (DE). Works may start only on the basis of a checked PTh (art. 278).
Independent check For CC2–CC4 the design is checked by a certified checker, at level NVP2–NVP4. The designs we prepare are checked by independent checkers. What each check level requires
The designer's responsibility For CC1 a check by a certified checker is no longer required, and responsibility for compliance with the standards lies solely with the designers (art. 441).

How we work

From the geotechnical report to construction

  1. Step 1 Review of the geotechnical report We check that the investigation covers the foundation's zone of influence and, where needed, recommend further investigation.
  2. Step 2 Solution and classification We compare the foundation or retaining options and set the consequence class.
  3. Step 3 PAC, PTh and DE Calculations, drawings and specifications, handed over for checking at the required level.
  4. Step 4 Site support Attendance at the critical construction stages and a long-term behaviour monitoring programme, where needed.
